General Purge of files coming soon

Well, just about out of room on Mega.nz. No other reasonable service out there, I really can't get dropbox to work well for much of anything, so

I'll be purging mega files. Probably about a week from now, so if there's anything you're interested in, you better grab it soon.

Happy new year, 2017

Mike Watt Hellride East o7/22/2ooo

Just uploaded to Dime a Dozen today, here is the Watt Hellride w/J Mascis!

MIKE WATT, J. MASCIS & MURPH (HELLRIDE EAST)
TRIBUTE TO THE STOOGES
KNITTING FACTORY, NEW YORK, NY, USA
JULY 22, 2000
G2 MASTER AUDIENCE RECORDING

SONY D8 DAT MASTER>STAND ALONE CD BURNER>WAV>FLAC

This performance is nothing short of mind-blowing. In a way it is the beginning of the Stooges reunion as they eventually added Ron Asheton, then Scott Asheton and finally Iggy HISself. The band did 2 nights - what you have here is the first night, which I preferred in terms of performance and recording quality. However, the 2nd night they had a sax player blowing on 1970 and Funhouse. When I put this on cd in 2000 I spliced in the two songs from the 2nd night. Anyway, the power of the playing and the vocals are undeniable. Much respect!

BAND:
Mike Watt - vocals, bass
J. Mascis - guitar
Murph - drums

SETLIST:
01. real cool time
02. little doll
03. not right
04. 1969
05. 1970 (from 2000-07-23)
06. funhouse (from 2000-07-23)

Ribot o2 2oo3 dvd.zip

Marc Ribot, concert solo

a solo electric guitar set from L'Ampli, Pau in France from February of 2003, Marc turns in a stunning version of "St. James Infirmery". Marc makes every note count, nothing is superfluous. It is as if the ancient sound of the earliest blues stills ring true today, so many years later. John Zorn's "Etude" is next and it sounds as if it is from another world, filled with twisted fragments, feedback, violent changes and all sorts of strange noises. It works well because it is completely focused and sounds like the darker side of modern life, just as scary as those ancient blues songs that we hold inside. Marc plays a 500 year song about memory called , "Recuerdos del la Alhambra", on his acoustic guitar. It is a difficult flamenco-like piece that has Marc hands playing a few different parts simultaneously. It is fascinating to watch since it has some unexpected twists and turns in direction. Marc punctuates "I'm Confessin'" with bits of spaced-out feedback, adding an aura of mystery and the haze of a psychedelic mist to this enchanting piece. It ends with a touching section of delicate ballad-like beauty.
